His Holiness seems to have had a wonderful time in Cadore,
walking the grounds, saying mass, finding time to catch up on his writing, tinkling away on the piano , chatting with the locals , laughing and joking with the children - and lo and behold - praying , praying some more, taking time off to pray, including finding some time for prayer...with a little bit of prayer thrown in - if he finds some spare time he might even catch up on some prayer ?
At the end of the last conclave , a BBC reporter asked my old mate Fr David Barrett , Bishop's secretary and Diocesan chancellor for the Diocese of Northampton , what he wanted from a new Pope...?
"A Holy Pope ! A Pope dedicated to a spiritual life of Prayer!" was the response....
God has blessed us with exactly that - although I must admit, with the sunglasses His Holiness does look like he's about to give one :
"a blessing you can't refuse!"
Oh , and for the progressive clerics and professional laity out there - for your information - THAT'S A ROSARY HE'S HOLDING!!
