A Parable for the 'liturgista'....

Once upon a time a father and son were taking their donkey along the highway towards market.

Soon they passed by a merchant:

"Fools!!" declared the worldly-wise man "you have a form of transport and you're walking!!!???"

So the father told his son to climb on the back of the donkey while he led it by rope...

Next they passed some elderly washerwomen....

"Typical ! look how the young abuse the old - that young lad rides while the old man walks - how we should mourn for future generations....oh the undeserving youth!!!"

The embarassed young man dismounted and his father climbed on the donkey.

Next they passed by some young fruitpickers in a field...

"See how the elderly thrive on the efforts and hardwork of the young????"

Father and Son agreed to both ride the donkey; as there was enough room for two...

Soon they arrived near the outskirts of the town and passed by the local schoolmistress...

"you thoughtless callous people!!! that poor animal having to bear the weight of both of you!!! for shame ! I shall notify the authorities..."

The father and son were now at their wits end - so they took the final option and lifted up the donkey between them and began to carry it - and the donkey was on their shoulders when they entered into the market amidst howls of hysterical laughter from the townspeople....

The Moral ??? Well I think we all know but maybe we're too polite ; and have no desire to offend the professional laity or the vaudevillian-clerics in our parishes...but shouldn't we say something?
