One of My New Year Resolutions is broken already...

This year I promised to be nice about our Cardinal ; especially as he's only a few months left in the role , and is , apart from being a bloody awful Archbishop; a really nice, friendly, affable, effusive and obviously holy man...

When the whole Tony Blair 'conversion' thing [of which I've said more than enough on the Holy Smoke blog - have a look there if you want to find out what I think] happened i freaked out - So for a few days I was positively livid with the whole Westminster establishment ; and went so far as to stating publicly that His Eminence should go in peace but please go....
Damian Thompson's Holy Smoke is asking for proposed names for a suitable Westminster replacement and I promised myself it would be an opportunity to be reticent about my antagonism towards the Archbishop....

....Then I read Fr John Boyle's South Ashford Priest blog - and discovered this !!!

Hospital Board defy the Cardinal

In their edition of 14th December 2007 the Catholic Herald was announcing “A Catholic hospital is saved … thanks, in part to the leadership of the Cardinal”. Little did they or anyone else know that in a secret meeting of the Hospital Board two days previously, on 12th December 2007, the Board had voted to defy the Cardinal and to proceed with allowing the entrance of the St John’s Wood Medical Practice into the former Convent of Mercy, on 14th January 2008, in order to provide referrals for abortion, the full range of contraceptive services etc etc in total disregard of the Code of Ethics which they had accepted at their previous meeting albeit not to be implemented “just yet”.

The Board did announce some resignations and changes but these are now seen to have been merely cosmetic with a new acting Chairman whose track record has not been seen to be in support of Catholic ethics – instead he is to be supported by the former Chairman, Lord Bridgeman, who has been the chief architect of the ongoing plans to remove the Hospital from Catholicity.

It has been suggested that we, the Restituta Group, should apply for an injunction to prevent the entry of the St John’s Wood Medical Practice. However the law provides that this can only be done with the permission of the Charity Commission who are the body responsible for seeing that charities act within the law. We have now asked for that permission. If permission is not granted we will be applying to a Judge for such permission with a view to eventually applying for an injunction.

Now His Eminence turned a blind eye to the St John & St Elizabeth debacle for years until Doctrina Fidei's Prefect - a certain Cardinal Ratzinger - dragged him over the coals for it - So Crom Cruach then actually made an attempt to do something ; was respected and praised for it, and then it all seemed hunky-dory - the authenticity of a catholic hospital was to be maintained ; the adversaries silenced or dismissed; and a minor victory for Life was a thing to celebrate - and now we discover it's simply not true ! All a total charade !
Well Your Eminence - you have until a week on monday to do something about it - but we know you won't , don't we ?

We need an new Archbishop - Now !!!

Yes, I saw what you put on the Holy Smoke blog. I was appalled. I see that you never comment on the TotalCatholic blog..or, if you do, you are incognito. There are all sorts of Catholics who post on it. Your addition might well be a plus.
Sincerely,
JARay

Thankyou ; but I have attempted to register at total catholic for some time now - to no avail - whether my isp is blocked or not I could not say ; it's just somewhat unusual...
