POD before the Inquisition....

Wednesday heralds the day Bishop O'Donoghue faces the Secularist Onslaught of the McCarthyite Commons select committee - where he has to justify the alleged 'catholic fundamentalism' within his religious education programme :"Fit for Mission".

All we can do is pray that the secularist torquemadas do not hold their sway and give His Lordship a fair hearing...miracles do happen you know ?

Where may I read this document? I have a provisional view but I feel I should comment on the original material rather than prior commentary. Wouldn't wish to appear scholastic.

Forgot to check the email follow-up box. How embarrassing.

Got it.

I'm not at all sure that I understand what all the fuss is about. Roman Catholic schools should have a Roman Catholic ethos. In what other way could they possibly be considered Roman Catholic?

What is the precise purpose of this committee today? What are they hoping to achieve?

It looks to me as though the only people with a hate on for Bishop O'Donoghue are the National Secular Society, who seem determined to make themselves appear important by spreading scare stories to the national press.

The NSS editorial puts me in mind of my schooldays, when self-appointed teachers' pets sought favour by running off at every opportunity to report their friends for fictional crimes. Irrelevant groups of miscreants will often conjour enemies out of thin air that they may present themselves as crusaders worthy of their paycheck.

I may switch on the box to see if this committee is being broadcast in any part.

So how did it go? I did not manage to catch any of it.
